Addiction and the Brain

“The strongest passions and most dangerous weaknesses of the human breast; ambition, avarice, vanity, the honorable or venal love of fame, are all in conspiracy against the desire and duty of peace: James Madison

"The enemy aggressor is always pursuing a course of larceny, murder, rapine and barbarism. We are always moving forward with high mission, a destiny imposed by the Deity to regenerate our victims while incidentally capturing their markets, to civilize savage and senile and paranoid peoples while blundering accidentally into their oil wells.": John Flynn, 1944

Lisa felt compelled to understand why so many people acted out and did things outside of their usual normal ways and thinking. She learnt all she could about the phenomenon called addiction.

She rapidly saw that people were addicted to many drugs and impulses and she saw that addiction also included emotions. And once again she saw that to be able to instill addictions of any type into populations allowed those who control it have vast ways to control millions.

For example, Lisa saw that alcohol was everywhere along with hard drugs and so-called soft or recreational drugs and she saw the millions of humans suffer the effects and downsides such as job impairment, safety impairment, health impairment and relationship stresses and violence.

She learnt how drugs affect the receptors in the brain and how habit forming behavior resulted. Even the humble cup of coffee resulted in perceived energy boosts that became a necessary feedback and caused physical yearnings if the supply was stopped. The brain receptors become altered by the various drug molecules and react favorably when the drug is imbibed at the expense of ‘normal’ receptor behavior.

And the times of ‘lack’ of the chemicals causes a feeling of need to do it all over again.

And Lisa also saw how the emotional addictions worked in similar ways – some by design and some by habit forming addiction. She noted the sexual urge was an extremely powerful addiction in some people as seen by the millions of porn and web sites that cater for such things. Even football matches and sporting events which can invoke whole ranges of behavior and emotions get to be addictive in many people. And naturally television contributed strongly to emotional addiction ever though people strongly refuted it. This video recorder was a god send to millions as it removed the stress emotionally of ‘missing’ my favorite show.

And this in turn utilizes the reward system of feedback and the need to get a ‘fix’ from the emotional surges or chemical effects. This is very linked to the day we were first born when we were programmed and manipulated into desired ways of being by our parents and society. And the prospects of rewards then can lead us into doing things we would either not usually do, or things that transgress our inner voices and conscious.

The initial bad hangover, or the initial foul taste of some drugs pales into insignificance when the social herd and peer group impels us to repeat the processes until the addiction is set in place and we act on our own...

Drugs such as alcohol impel millions to do things they would not normally do and so too do emotions. Many times infatuation with something or someone leads people into commitments or deeds that once the cold light of day arrives, caused regret but sometimes it is then too late (according to social pressures) to back out. And this then leads into emotional stresses and entrapment because it is far harder to correct impulses because it requires strong responsibility to SELF. And this determination to the self is not common in most people nor is it encouraged. So we continue to follow the rules as laid out by others and society. And Lisa was only too aware of how society was carefully constructed and maintained...

Lisa saw that most people get into relationships and cling to them initially due to childhood memories and people they previously met and liked. So the emotional addiction created wellness and happiness until the warts and all became apparent but the resolve to escape or end the addiction of emotion was usually too late. Yet Lisa also saw that if they did escape the circumstances, they immediately repeated the same thing. Unless they had learned.

And so Lisa began to see that especially in matters of relationships, people followed false notions and fairy tale romance dreams either learnt or programmed since childhood or from magazines and watching friends. Sadly the opposite is also true whereby people will display an unexplainable hatred and anger/dislike for no other reason but from likenesses witnessed from childhood or fed to them by magazines and television. There is no sound or logical reason for the feelings, but they are strong and real nevertheless and they act accordingly. They rarely ever question why they feel as they do and consequently they never KNOW.

And Lisa could see that through the power of addiction, people ceased living their lives as they really would have or want to. So whether the addiction is to drugs, money, sex or relationships, the first thing to go was their FREE WILL. And at that very moment, they become slaves to the addiction, to society and to others. And Lisa saw that people believed that they actually enjoyed not being their true selves thus joining into illusions and false hopes. Lisa began to see how addictions of any kind excite dopamine levels which produce feelings of joy and bliss yet these feelings were being induced artificially, and not from being in control of their lives, and certainly not by exciting dopamine levels by their own conscious choices and actions. If people would only excited their own pleasure/excitement zones instead of artificially through drugs or television then the true reality would be their life and not some false emotional illusion. And the choice to continue or stop would be in their full awareness control.

One example Lisa could see how this occurred was by people who used drugs that raised serotonin and dopamine and achieved higher well being and self worth and feelings of loving and closeness. But they can get these natural highs with out any drugs at all. It rested on their own ability to feel and embrace their own inner emotions and inner truths. And it took a little more effort.

The oddest emotion Lisa saw was when television streamed scenes of bombings and attacks each time a war had just began. She sat in amazement as millions of people could not get enough of the mesmerizing violence and murder because to them it was identical to a movie – but this time is was for real yet they couldn’t appreciate any difference.

The introduced chemicals and emotional triggers actually don’t of themselves create the responses but excite our own inner chemicals into overload and results in the feelings of euphoria and so on and so our own battles to wrest control with our emotional highs really rest inside ourselves And emotionally speaking, people need to stop habits and behaviors that release their own inner chemicals. By taking charge and control of the emotional impacts in our daily lives, we can reduce the highs and lows of abnormal chemical balances and in turn limit and control addictions by ourselves. Turn the television off. Stop the illusion being fed through newspapers. Take time to see the world as it really is without emotional bombardment.

It then made sense to Lisa as to how Tibetan Lamas and those skilled in deep meditation could tap into their higher realms and sub consciousness. They were free from drama and emotional addiction by choice – they became detached. They consciously explored their own minds and consciousness. Their true reality was limitless in every sense of the word. And they could never do it with emotional and chemical addiction.

Lisa also learnt that the act of thinking not only permitted a better and more real viewpoint of life and surroundings, but thinking exercised the cortex and thus reprogrammed the brain away from emotional reactive responses and into considered intelligent choice.

Biologically and mentally wise, the television took on an even more sinister role.

The process of thinking and questioning records memory by way of brain chemicals and emotional reaction produces the same memory and chemicals. Lisa then saw immediately that people who rarely considered and thought deeply were in fact creating memories based solely on emotional events. Rarely are emotions based on fact therefore peoples memories also had no basis in truth and reality. And Lisa saw a world with far too many people running purely on emotional memory and far few people who looked at events arousing love and anger and terror with deep enquiring thought.

Lisa then saw that throughout recorded history that when people slowly began to awaken to there surroundings and THINK, then more emotional stresses and wars were added to overwhelm the masses back into emotional addiction and slavery.

And another piece of the illusion puzzle fell neatly into place. Lisa knew now what the full impact of controlling and exciting emotions now had on the human mind.

All throughout history, humans have been subjected to emotional turmoil and triggers. The masses had memories based on emotional stress for the larger parts of their lives. Only the hidden native communities who connected to themselves and to nature had in large escaped the false memory illusion and this may play a large part into why assimilation was often a difficult step for them. But who were the really wiser people?

But who was doing this?  And why? Lisa again saw a link to the span of eons of turmoil and to a timeless manipulation of the world.
